May 26: YouTube Livestream, online lecture, and link to live course

  • I've never done a livestream before! But I'm going to try to walk my viewers through the first few pages. You can join me!
  • RECORDING, FIRST 100 LINES: https://youtu.be/6n6NMGhlLK4?si=Q7p7MuKI3M4x3zO1
  • I'll also publish a lecture in the online course that explains what "active reading" is and shows you how to take notes.
  • Finally, I'll send out an email with the link that you will use to attend the live class on June 3!

We will have our first live meeting on June 3. (I'll send out a reminder a few days ahead of time!)

Before then, you can feel free to read the Introduction. However, know that there are spoilers! If you don't want spoilers, feel free to just show up at the first meeting without reading the introduction.

At the first meeting, there will be a presentation on the historical, literary, and mythological background, so you can get your bearings. Then, we'll set off reading the first few pages together. I'll send you away with your first reading assignment.

Our first meeting will be 90 minutes long. After that, we'll plan to meet for 75 minutes.

Weekly work:

  • About 50 pages of reading
  • 20-30 minutes of optional video lectures

Live Discussion Schedule:

  • Tuesdays, June 3 - July 8
  • First class on June 3 will be 90 minutes; all other classes will be 75 minutes
  • 5 p.m. Pacific, 6 p.m. Mountain, 7 p.m. Central, 8 p.m. Eastern
